Overview of Petrozim Line

Petrozim Line (Private) Limited (PZL) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of the National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe (NOIC) (Pvt) Ltd. The Company was incorporated on 18 October 1988 as a joint venture company between Lonrho and the National Oil Company of Zimbabwe (NOCZIM), the predecessor company to NOIC.

Operations commenced in 1994 following the commissioning of the 208 km pipeline from Feruka to Harare, which the Company owns and operates. During the course of 2019, NOIC acquired the 50% shareholding that was previously owned by Lomnin, the successor company to Lonrho. Its core business is the bulk transportation of refined fuel from Feruka depot in Mutare to Harare, for onward distribution to oil company depots and end user markets through both road and rail. Petrozim Line (Pvt) Ltd main mandate is to  operate and carry out maintenace of the the pipeline from Feruka to Msasa.

The Company currently has the following operational sites:

  • Feruka pump station
  • Msasa receiving station
  • Wilton [booster station site]

The strategic thrust of the Company is to grow and protect the business, and play a critical role of contributing towards positioning Harare as a regional hub for the distribution of fuel into hinterland markets within the region.

This is achieved through the development of adequate capacity for the transportation of fuel through the pipeline, as well as efficient utilisation of the pipeline and related infrastructure.

To this end, the Company, in liaison with the pipeline operator for the Beira – Feruka route –  CPMZ, has identified the need to upgrade the capacity of the pipeline to meet future demand, and the design work has commenced. This will result in installed capacity of 4.9 billion litres per annum, up from the current 2.19 billion litres.

To be the leader in the provision and transportation of diversified energy solutions in Southern Africa.
